Skeletal Muscle Mass vs. Cardiovascular Disease

In a recent study published in September of 2019, scientists began to look for an association between the amount of skeletal muscle mass in relation to cardiovascular disease (CVD)

They followed 1,019 CVD-free men over 45 years old for 10 years and measured their skeletal mass index and their fatal/non-fatal CVD incidence

Results after 10 years showed increase in some sort of CVD incidence across almost all of the participants however those with the most skeletal muscle mass had 81% decrease in chance of incidence and keeps it at bay longer than those who had a much lower muscle mass
